Observing with 12.5" f5 dobsonian telescope and this eyepiece shows me the entire pleades sparkling like diamonds. Tried it on the double cluster in Perseus also a major wow! This is a major pleasure to view through and a big upgrade from my widest eyepiece prior to this which was a 32mm UO konig. Pentax has so much more contrast even with the wider field of view and the stars are all pin point to the edge of the field of view. I was told that this eye piece would have to large an exit pupil and at 8mm it is big. Its like looking through a portal. However the warnings about seeing the secondary mirror with bright objects like the moon did not hold true. Moon was absolutely gorgeous with lots of contrast. Only when you move your eye back from the eye piece does the secondary come into view. Now on the negative side. While I was able to see a good part of the veil nebula including the larger portion and pickerings wedge, the contrast wasnt as good as in the 12mm nagler. I suspect thats due to the greater magnification and the subsequent sky darkening that goes along with it. Other enjoyable targets for this eye piece were the North american nebula and seeing Andromeda along with both M110 and M32 was amazing with room to spare. Again contrast was amazing with both dust lanes visible under above avg skies. Other pros about the eye piece is its relatively light wt compared to the larger naglers and panoptic.
