Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Pentax DSLR Crossover BagCustomer Review: worth every penny Summary: 4 StarsJust got the bag. Very excited. It fits all my photo gears, including a Canon XSI body, plus 18-55 mm lens, 55-250 mm lens, 50mm/1.8 lens and my HF10 camcorder. It does not feel tight at all. Seems pretty protective to me. Looks much prettier than the shown images. The price is unbelievable. The only problem I found is that the velcro hook on the side is loose, which I don't think affect the use if you don't hook and unhook many times. I would recommend this to anyone who's looking for a small bag yet with large storage capability.
Customer Review: Okay bag for the special price... Summary: 3 StarsBought the bag 10/3/09 as it was on sale for a decent price. Then several days after I purchased, price kept falling here and there but Amazon refused to concede to crediting me because I had already ordered it. (rating of product not influenced by this).
The bag is a bit tight for my Nikon D70s with the 18-70mm lens. I used the bag occasionally here and there and a few weeks after purchase a nylon/yarn piece of the zipper tie came loose. No big deal, I put a key ring around the zipper to help in zipping/unzipping the bag.
Major outing and reason for purchase was a vacation to Disney World from 11/14/09 - 11/23/09. While on vacation the nylon loop at the top of the bag started ripping. Now mind you, I only had the body/lens, 55-200mm lens and misc accessories (hood, cloth, spare CF card, etc) inside the bag, so it was not that heavy. As we walked through WDW there were times I used a carabiner/D-link to hold the bag to my backpack to keep my hands free. This is when I started noticing the rip in the loop.
Today is 11/24/09 and during our unpacking process I went to unzip the bag to inspect the camera. The other nylon/yarn piece came off the other zipper! This was the last straw. I called Amazon and asked what they would do to correct this and the CSR offered to refund my purchase price, plus I don't have to send the bag back to them. Nice response compared to the opening issue.
Long story short, this is a decent bag for occasional/light to moderate use. But if you're going to use it moderately or beyond OR want to ensure the better constructed product, I would recommend something along the Lowepro type branding (even though this appears to be a knock-off).
The size of what it holds would make most amateurs happy. Body, 2 lenses, external flash (Nikon SB400 with no problems, but SB600 may pose a tight fit), and misc extras. Even though it appears this item is discontinued, I will be posting pictures of the problems I encountered as listed above.
Customer Review: Great value, great bag for casual photog! Summary: 5 StarsI got this bag on sale for $12, and I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase. I already shelled out the big bucks to upgrade to a DSLR, so getting a bag to protect it was going to be another hit to the wallet!
I'm not a pro photographer, so this bag is perfect for my use. It seems well made enough, and there is plenty of room for my Rebel T1i, kit lens, zoom lens, and other small accessories. My favorite thing about it is the way you can wear it more or less like a backpack (with one strap) and slide it around to get to the camera w/o taking it off.
It's not a PRETTY bag, but that's ok. I imagine I will eventually get something different when I have more accessories and lenses, but for now, this works just fine, and when compared to pricier bags, it was practically FREE!
Customer Review: Good quality at an unbeatable price. Summary: 5 StarsI was a little skeptical about this bag because of the price. But don't mistake the quality for the price.
This will kick the Lowepro Slingshot100 to the curb for it's affordability and quality. The term "you get what you pay for" does not apply here.
Customer Review: Pentax Crossover Camera Bag Summary: 5 StarsNo this bag doesn't compare with the LowePro Slingshot in quality and features (I use a LowePro for my DSLR rig), but for twelve bucks and change it was a five star bargain. I bought this one to carry the combination of my point and shoot, video camcorder, extra batteries, stop watch, cell phone and whatever else I need to my kid's sporting events. Using the dividers provided, I've got snug separate areas for both cameras. Both of the cameras mentioned above are already inside small LowePro Revo bags and they fit right in the Pentax while still inside the small LowePro bags. I don't like the "Pentax Digital" label and it cannot be simply cut off since the letters are individually stitched (I was hoping it was a patch I could cut off).
